Nearby, scarlet macaws once on the verge of disappearing now soar above the forest once again. In the protected forests of Cabo Blanco, land that was once cleared for agriculture has regenerated into one of Costa Rica's most treasured nature reserves, where jungle trails lead to secluded white-sand beaches.
